“I am fortunate that I myself haven’t been too affected by the brutality of racism. I had issues of growing up being Asian in a community with so few of us and I had some difficulty feeling isolated. But overall, I believe it’s an important issue. We need to have more conversations so we are able to combat this negativity better.”

“I would say my experience with racism and hate crimes have definitely shaped my thinking when pondering on past traumas. That said, I’ve used these experiences to reveal to those around me that racist stereotypes and acts still happen today and that these things affect us greatly.
